Our Story
Agape Foundation
Initially, the foundation focused on supporting organizations opposing the Vietnam War, aiming to challenge the prevailing culture of violence. Over the years, Agape expanded its mission, raising and distributing millions of dollars to grassroots organizations committed to peace and justice throughout the western United States.
In 2010, after over four decades of impactful work, Agape Foundation merged with the Peace Development Fund, ensuring the continuation of its mission to support nonviolent social change.
From Humble Beginnings to Transformative Impact
In 1969, amidst the fervent anti-war movement in Palo Alto, California, a group of pacifists and anti-war activists united with a shared vision: to promote nonviolent social change. This vision gave birth to the Agape Foundation, named after the Greek word “Agape,” signifying “unselfish love of one person for another.”
Today, the legacy of the Agape Foundation lives on, inspiring new generations to pursue peace, justice, and equality for all.
